Getting there
Tangail is roughly 85-100 km from Dhaka. Direct buses from Mohakhali terminal take 2-4 hours depending on traffic; trains cover the route in around 2 hours.
Best time to visit
October through March is the dry season and the more comfortable window for travel.
What to see
- Atia Mosque — a small 17th-century mosque built in 1609-1611 during the Mughal period, distinctive enough to have appeared on the old 10-taka banknote. It sits about 6 km south of Tangail town.
- The handloom weaving villages around Bisnapur — where much of the Tangail saree production still happens, with workshops open to visitors interested in watching the process.
- Mohera Zamindar Bari — a preserved zamindar estate house, one of several in the district.
